I am tired of the crap
Some of you may have seen some derogatory posts about the new GPT Owners Alliance that has been formed. Apparently Christina of DealBarbiePays believes we are sharing member information, although she also says we won't let her in so I am not sure how logically she can claim to know what we are doing.
Here is what we are doing.
We are trying to come up with some kind of standards to which GPT sites can be held, to help weed out people who are going to cause you grief in the future. (If you were a member of MadCash4u.com when it suddenly disappeared with your money, you know what I am talking about.) Member site admins will be required to register with us (and give us their home address and phone number) and be held to a standard of conduct in order to keep their standing. We have a forum on the site, and can be contacted, so if you have a serious problem with a site, you can let us know and we can see if there is anything we can do - or revoke their membership, if it is serious.
Another thing we are doing is putting our heads together. This does not mean that we are going looking for people to kick off because one thing was accidentally repeated. CashDuck has processed close to sixty THOUSAND offer completions since its inception, and has over 3500 members - who even has time to go through all that and match it up?
Yesterday was a good example of why I am glad for this program. Another admin was talking to me about a user she has who had a number of trials reverse for no understandable reason. It turned out that her husband has a membership on CashDuck and had done some of the same trials. Since they are on the same IP, the advertiser regarded the wife's as duplicates. Neither of us thought that this was done on purpose. So we just each sent a note to our member saying please be careful in the future. Now, if the husband had been the one to have several trials reverse, and I didn't know this was going on, he probably would have been asked to cashout and then inactivated so he couldn't do any more offers here. But since we were able to get together and figure out what was happening, things were OK.
Contrary to statements made by others, the only information we are sharing is your username, and occasionally your first and last name. Most sites collect mailing addresses and everybody collects email addresses, so it would be pointless to share those, and would also not actually get us anywhere. The majority of fraudulent users that I see are using fake or stolen credit cards, or are using proxy servers to complete offers with a US IP but are actually from outside the United States. Frequently these fraudulent users are using a name and address from the phonebook, which may result in problems for the person whose address they have taken. So we feel it is really in everyone's best interest to remove these people as soon as possible, for that reason, and for the secondary goal of not pissing off the advertisers so that they don't pull the offers and then no one can do them.
I also learned today that Christina of DealBarbiePays has decided to remove all other site admins from membership on her site, citing a conflict of interest. I would just like to point out for the record that she evidently saw no conflict of interest when she held memberships on most other GPT sites you have ever heard of, and so did her husband.
If you would like to know more about the GPT Owners Alliance from someone who is actually part of it, please contact me.

"Those who have nothing to hide, hide nothing". The only members that would be pissed off about their usernames being shared would be those members who were doing something wrong. JMO. I think the alliance is a great thing, and sounds like someone is just jealous!
Ugh, this makes me sick. She is SO off base it's pathetic. This is to put a stop to fraudulent behavior, at least on their sites. Members should appreciate the fact that they are working to keep their sites safe. At least they are taking action against protecting the industry because they care about it and the success of their sites. She cares about only her own success and that's why she feels the need to put this down. Frauders attract frauders, Christina. You're welcome to them! I'll do my business on sites I trust.
Any by saying they care about their sites, I mean collectively. They care about the success of their own sites, as well as the others in the Alliance.
I agree with poster number 1. If you stay away from trouble, trouble will stay away from you.
I found Christina's post to be self-serving and self-righteous crap - pretty much what she usually posts. It's unfortunate - she used to run a top site, now not so much. I'm not into helping people like her make money when I can come to people like Kira who actually give a darn about other people and the integrity of GPTs in general. Not people who feel the need to spread garbage about things they obviously know nothing about.
And something else I've been wondering....what exactly are the site owners going to DO with our information if they did (gasp!) share it!?! Get a life.
Very well put!
I also happen to know that one of the posters in that thread is her employee who claims she was deleted off sites for no reason. She was deleted off one particular site for fraud. That's plenty reason. Both her and Christina were in it together, along with another one of her employees! They appear to be looking out for their "loyal members" but can you really trust someone that has tried to fraud other sites? Do you honestly believe that she's approving everything that approves for her members? She has no ethics!!
I am not worried that a gpt owner will *do* anything with my info, but if they are going to exchange info, their privacy policy should reflect that.
You guys are obviously all part of the group. It is great that you support each other. But do you really think it is necessary to share ANY user information. Also, have you thought about the idea of leaving other people to their opinions and not bash them because they are not in your click. This is not highschool. This is Adult life. Everyone has an opinion.
Uh, how are we going to prevent fraud if we don't share user information?
"So I have this user, who did some offers, last night."
"Yeah, I had some users, who did some offers last night too."
See, what we are doing is trying to get EVERYONE in the clique. But there are certain people who have already excluded themselves without us doing a thing. And then they are going round saying that we won't let them in, when they didn't even contact any of us.

just a thought, why don't the site owners that want to be involved somehow incorporate themselves together? still keep everything separate except for what is needed to help weed out the scam artists. this way you wouldn't be breaching privacy because you're all partners. just a thought. ;) --deidre @ rtb
I'm not really sure how that would be different from what we are doing.. I assume you mean partners legally? I think that would not really make a difference in privacy, just in terminology. :) Site owners do not have to share information if they don't have any issues with users they wish to share - they can participate, or not participate, in any discussion.
